Howdy! My name is Scott Leazenby, and here’s a confession you probably weren’t expecting on a website such as this:
I’m not really a “hotel guy.”
It’s true. I have no status in any hotel loyalty program. I don’t know the secret upgrade tricks. I’m not the guru with 200 hotel nights a year under his belt. My main project is writing airline reviews (just search for SANspotter), and that’s what I enjoy focusing most of my time on.
So why do I write hotel reviews?
Because I travel constantly (thanks to all that airline reviewing), every trip means another hotel stay or two. Probably around 20 a year on average. I feel like I have a lot of valuable information to share. However, it’s my love of documenting everything that I do that really keeps this going.
This website is basically my personal travel diary
I’ve always loved journaling, and hotel reviews became another version of it. It’s a record of where I’ve been, what I experienced, the good and the bad. Writing them is genuinely therapeutic. Even when I complain to myself that writing about something I don’t have deep passion for is a waste of time. I just can’t stop.
There’s also something I love about capturing a moment before it disappears. Hotels renovate, rebrand, and reinvent themselves constantly. What you see in one of my reviews might not exist a few years later. And that’s exactly why I want to preserve it in pictures and words. Now in video format as well!
And of course, sharing what I learned during each stay (helping others avoid the mistakes I usually make) is motivating as well.
How the site is organized
1. Current reviews:
Fresh, up-to-date reviews of my most recent hotel experiences. What you read is what you’ll get if you book today.
2. Vintage / historical reviews:
My older reviews, left exactly as they were written, even if the hotel has since changed, closed, or been completely remodeled. Think of this as a time capsule (a look back at how things used to be).
